HOW TO NAVIGATE THE SOCIAL CARE SYSTEM Online event

Dear BP Team

I would like to congratulate Meave and the BP team for organising an amazing and very educative event. All speakers gave valuable information in their areas of expertise.

I feel colleges (16-18 year olds) need to do more to help young people navigate transitioning into adulthood emotionally and mentally to avoid getting into trouble with the law.

Thank you.

PRESS RELEASE

How to navigate the social care system” Online event

If you are a parent struggling to manage your children’s emotional and behavioural needs but are either anxious to get in touch with your Hillingdon Council or confused as to how the Social Care system works, then this event is for you. This Zoom event will take place on Tuesday 23rd February 2021 between 5pm – 7pm. To get involved, you must simply accept register via Eventbrite.

Brilliant Parents are excited to invite parents to our latest virtual event, which aims to demystify the social care system and reduce the stigma associated with this process. Through this event, we will create a safe space for parents to listen to a diverse panel and voice any questions or concerns in response. Barrister, Shaun Wallace, also known as the Dark Destroyer from “The Chase” will be one of the guest speakers alongside representatives from Law, Health and Education.  As such, this event will provide an informative and invaluable insight into the Social Care system and ultimately bridge the gap between the community and Hillingdon Council. We feel that COVID-19 has starkly exposed the challenges faced by parents and hope that by attending this event, parents feel that they can access the support offered by the Social Care System without confusion, prejudice, or anxiety.

Brilliant Parents, created by Chief Executive Meave Darroux, runs courses to transform parenthood into a more positive and rewarding experience. Brilliant Parents offer tangible strategies to those who are struggling with the challenges and emotional demands of parenthood. Meave and her team of accredited Triple P practitioners and Parent Champion volunteers strongly believe that the wellbeing of parents and children are inter-connected, and that early intervention has long-term benefits for their confidence and happiness.  Courses run by the team, most notably the Triple P programme provide support by proving coping mechanisms; introducing parenting techniques; as well as important opportunities for self-reflection. Ultimately, Brilliant Parents strives to help parents understand their own complex and emotional behaviours alongside that of their children, from toddler to teenager and establish a more effective system of communication.
