Mothering Sunday found new meaning for over 200 proud mothers and their families at the Holiday Inn, Bloomsbury. Brilliant Parents, honoured mothers from in and around London, with their second Mother’s Day fundraising event on 6th April 2019. Sponsored by SheaMoisture, the event acknowledged mother’s in, Mother, Grandmother, Foster Mother and Carer of the year categories.

During an action-packed programme that included a powerful Keynote address from Baroness Doreen Lawrence who made a rare weekend appearance at the Brilliant Parents event and confirmed “It is a very challenging time to be a parent in this climate”.  She went on to say that “there is a distinct lack of support for parents” and paid tribute to mothers, nominated by their families, in aid of raising awareness of positive parenting.

Meave Darroux, Chief Executive of Brilliant Parents made mention of the recent invitation to take part in a round table discussion with the Government regarding parent support for parents/expectant parents from conception to two years, which resulted in Meave and the Brilliant Parents Board of Directors having a meeting with Andrea Leadsom, Leader of the House of Commons.

Meave also stated that Brilliant Parents aims to empower and improve the relationships between the parent and the child, by asking parents to examine and change their own behaviour, before focusing on their child.
