New patron announced for Brilliant Parents

Brilliant Parents is proud to have as their patron:
Shaun Wallace

Social Enterprise Brilliant Parents, is delighted to announce the appointment of Shaun Wallace, otherwise known as The Dark Destroyer, from the UK television series The Chase, a teatime game show which airs on ITV, as their first patron for the organisation.

Meave Darroux, Chief Executive of Brilliant Parents, commented on the appointment:

“Shaun is the perfect fit for Brilliant Parents. Through his work as a barrister, he understands and appreciates the importance of the parenting role and the high price that some parents can pay when things go so tragically wrong, sometimes leading to their children turning to acts of criminality. Fortunately, parenting is a modifiable skill and therefore it is never too late for change, both in the parent’s behaviour and that of the child.”

Shaun Wallace’s support will be key, helping us work towards a culture change in parent support. Despite there being evidence to show that violence and inconsistencies in the home can harm brain development, and may leave an indelible mark, there is also a growing data that well implemented early intervention strategies, including evidence based parenting programmes, can lay the foundations for healthy child development and remedy early damage.

Brilliant Parents would like to see parents provided with Government funded support on a universal basis to improve confidence and skills to strengthen the parent child relationship, increasing self-esteem and beginning to counteract the scourge of criminal and child sexual exploitation in society. In today’s multi-cultural society, we need to provide parents with positive acceptable socially diverse strategies, as to how to perform the most difficult job there is, raising the next generation.”

Shaun Wallace, reciprocated:

“I am thrilled to become a Patron of Brilliant Parents. In today’s culture of social media, increased knife crime and the drugs epidemic amongst our youth, it is increasingly important that all parents are given the tools to raise emotionally healthy, well-adjusted children who can contribute to society in a positive way. The work that Brilliant Parents provides has a long-term impact. As it not only impacts the parent, but their children and has the potential to impact their grand-children to come, as most parents, parent the way they were parented and I am honoured to accept this role as their first patron.”

Brilliant parents deliver parenting programmes for Corporates, Local Authorities, Schools, the Prison Service, National Health Service, Voluntary sector and Faith organisations.
